04-4-2024 Rcap:

Short slate yesterday but an eventful one at that.  The New York Metropolitans finally broke through and now there are no remaining winless teams in the MLB, exciting! They experienced a brutal loss in the first game after giving up a 3-0 lead to the resurgent Detroit Tigers.  A big reason for their resurgence has been the strength of the bullpen.  The Tiger’s have quietly sported the best bullpen in the MLB giving up a league low thirteen runs.  This trend continued into the second game as the Tigers pitching was a masterclass holding the Mets to zero hits through eight innings.  They could only hold the Mets down for so long though and a one run lead was walked off in the ninth.  Pete Alonso has been one of the most solid producers of offense, and came through when they needed him most to tie a game with a much needed homerun.  Beyond the double header, I was pleased with both the Pirates vs Nationals and the Marlins vs Cardinals game.  The Pirates are continuing an impressive start to the campaign with a 7-4 win over the Nationals.  Michael Taylor has proven to be a great acquisition for this team batting .480 and contributing three of the eleven hits yesterday.  The Nationals tried to make it a game of it but came up just short.  As for the Marlins and Cards we had quite the spectacle.  The injuries to the Marlins pitching core reared its head in this one as the five runs on offense didn’t prove to be enough.  Starting 0-8 is something that I did not expect for this Marlins team and I expect them to turn it around soon.  On the other hand, the Cards are hitting the ball at an astounding rate and showed their offensive prowess.  Nolan Arenado had a phenomenal day going 3-5 and youngster Nolan Gorman had a key double in the seventh.  Great effort by the Cards, happy to see this team proving me wrong, so far…

04-5-2024 Game of the Day:

Back to the regularly scheduled programming, the Game of the Day and the pick of the day are back! The Orioles are one of my personal favorites to watch, a young team with talent across the board.  Today they are wheeling out starter Grayson Rodriguez who is a rising star in this sport, should be a fun one to watch.  On the other side, the Pirates are coming off a steaming hot start.  The pitching in this matchup is a bit tilted, I expect Grayson to do well.  I have yet to watch Jared Jones go, the Pirates starter, but a 4.76 ERA to start isn't a great sign, although it is early.  I expect a lot of offense in this one, the Orioles bullpen hasn’t lived up to standard and the Pirates haven’t faced an offense such as this.  With all of this taken into account, I am picking the Orioles in this one.  Let’s see if we can grow this streak!

GOTD Record: 3-1

A bit of a condensed post today.  I am traveling this weekend so I am doing my best, but I will be posting each morning (for West Coast people).  Excited for another weekend of baseball, and as always, I hope you all of a nice day and get the opportunity to watch some games!
