Game Preview:
Two of the league's hottest teams clash in an early season bout. This is a great series to get involved with because these teams have some bad blood, historically. Facing off in the playoffs numerous times with many iconic scenes. It is always a spectacle and I am very excited to see what this game has in store. I was down on the Guardians to begin the year and I feel a bit foolish. I say a bit because I am not fully convinced this team is as good as televised. Their record speaks for itself, not much room for argument there. In the visiting locker room is a team that has been tested early. The Yankees have earned a 10-3 record by battling through Houston and Arizona, on their way to a home stand against the Blue Jays. The bullpen looks as expected, dominant, and the starting rotation seems to have found some juice with newcomer Marcus Stroman proving his worth. Anthony Volpe seems to have made a major leap in his offensive development and has moved quickly from the seven spot, to lead off. Juan Soto has seemed to have added a missing link to this Yankees lineup and has paid dividends early and often. Both teams are humming and I expect a tightly fought contest. The pitching matchup isn’t as intriguing to me but there are major stars on each side to prove a worthy watch. Jose Ramirez and the Naylor brothers for the Guardians, are always must see TV. These matchups tend to come down to a key hit down the stretch so watch for thunder in the seventh inning and beyond.
Yesterday, we earned a phenomenal GOTD pick win pushing our personal record to a whole three games! I am very proud of this and look to expand on such success. For this first matchup I am putting my faith in the Yankees to pull it off on the road in Cleveland. Clark Schmidt has done a swell job for the Yanks since moving from the bullpen to a starting role, a gritty pitcher with an appetite for victory. I see the patience of this Yankees lineup wear out an aged Carlos Carasco and get some runs on the board early. Let’s see if my back to back New York picks get us a new PR!
