Game Recap:

Not much to say about this one.  Logan Webb was once again dominant at home tossing seven scoreless innings en route to a 5-0 Giants win.  Typically, Webb doesn’t get much run support at all from the Giants and that remained true in this one.  Despite winning 5-0, the Giants offense was held motionless for seven innings, a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the third defined their only offense.  An injury to Ryne Nelson, of the Diamondbacks, in the bottom of the second derailed a solid outing.  Overall, it was a great pitching performance from the Dbacks, their bullpen pulled together seven innings of relief, only giving up three earned.  Logan Allen, in particular, came in after Nelson went down and gave Arizona 4.2 innings of one run work.  This Giants offense is anything but prolific, a new look to a historic franchise has gotten off to a slow start.  Soler and Chapman haven’t hit their strides yet and it seems patchwork as of now.  They did their damage last night in the bottom of the eighth.  Wilmer Flores had a clutch pinch hit double, followed up by a Mike Yastremski bases loaded single that sealed the deal.  Camilo Doval was set to come in, but was sat down once the Giants separated themselves.  I was hoping he would display his arm, I wanted you all to see one of the more talented young closers in the game today.  There isn’t anything to speak on with regards to the Dbacks offense, mustering just three hits in the game.  Although, the Giants made some spectacular in field, and out field, defensive plays which kept the speed of Arizona off the base paths.  All of that to say, we are on a new win streak! We set a very high bar with five from a few days ago, can we beat that?

GOTD Preview: 4-19-2024

Baltimore Orioles @ Kansas City Royals 7:40 PM E.T.

Whenever I can get the chance to highlight the Orioles this year, I am going to take it.  I firmly believe this is a team that can raise a trophy in Baltimore, come seasons end.  A young, talented squad with some new pitching depth, scary side.  Today, they begin a series against an up and coming powerhouse, the Kansas City Royals.  The Royals are a team that I didn’t have a handle on to begin the year.  I knew they had the talent but did not expect it to have positive returns this early.  They have had some impressive series wins, most notably a series sweep of the struggling Houston Astros.  Coming off a recent series win versus the White Sox, the Royals will be eager to return home for the first time in eight days.  The Orioles are coming off a much needed series sweep of the Twins, in Baltimore.  I expect this to be a well contested and balanced matchup between two young teams.  This pitching matchup is pretty much dead even and the Orioles have the better lineup overall.  Yet, I have a feeling that the Royals pull off some home field magic tonight in Kansas City.  Give me the Royals and let’s push for a three game win streak.
