04-6-2024 Recap:

On the unfortunate side of this recap, my GOTD pick came up just short with the Cubs dropping one against the Dodgers 4-1.  The Cubs had a solid offensive day; they just lacked that finishing hit to score in runs.  Betts, Freeman, and Teoscar combined to go 0-12 from the plate but the other guys did enough to get the win.  Ohtani went 2-4 and Max Muncy hit a clutch single in the fifth to put the Cubs to bed.  Yoshi earned his first career MLB win pitching five shutout innings, he is starting to find his stride which is a welcome site.   My correct pick record will sadly remain at two, but today begins a new streak!

Other news around the league, a couple of aces went down for the year with elbow injuries.  Spencer Strider and Shane Bieber will miss the rest of 2024 and both are significant injuries to both starting rotations.  It will be interesting to see how the Braves and the Guardians attempt to fill in the gaps.  I also incorrectly stated the Mets were the only winless team the other day, the Marlins sadly have yet to taste victory.  Pretty surprising given the structure of that squad.

4-7-2024 Game of the Day:

Today’s GOTD should be a juicy one, the first two games of this series have been nothing short of special.  Two come from behind wins for the Braves and two crushing losses for the Diamondbacks.  I am putting this game on the main stage purely for the offensive output that I am expecting.  These are two of the better offenses in the sport and have proven that through the first part of the season.  Corbin Carroll has started the year on a serious slump, to his standards, batting a soft .194, that should flip.  The Braves have leaned on the bottom half of their lineup while Acuna and Co. heats up, scary to think about given how effective they have been.  The pitching matchup is interesting because Chris Sale is getting the nod for the Braves.  He had a solid first start pitching 5.1 innings and giving up only two runs in a 5-4 loss to the Phillies.  This Diamondbacks roster presents a unique challenge and am eager to see how Sale navigates the batting lineup.  I expect both teams to put up some runs, if the first two games are any barometer.  Now for the most important part, my GOTD pick, I am going with a risky one today to begin my new win streak.  I will be taking the Diamondbacks in this one, I think they have some revenge on their mind.

GOTD Record: 4-2

Alright a new day and a new win streak to take hold of.  I travel back home tonight so I will be back watching more games this week.  Excited to get more comprehensive recaps and news around the league for you all.  As always, I hope you all have a great day and get to enjoy some baseball!
